Wonderful World Of Arguments
A Brief Synopsis of Arguments I Have Engaged in Over the Past Year
-Whether or not book publishers have fact checkers. The argument was that out of 5 book publishers, were talking the major publishers (i.e. Random House, Schiller, Simon and Schuster etc.), that more than 1 publishing company employs at least one fact checker. I sided with more than 1. Pretty sure safe bet. However, I do believe that lots of books aren't fact checked and that is a significant point however, the likelihood of 4 major publishing companies not employing 1 fact checker for any of their thousands of books is to say the least absurd.
-Whether it is true that MC5 was the only band that showed up to play at the Chicago 68' Democratic National Convention. I read this in the book Chicago 68' by David Farber a nonfiction book about the Chicago 68' DNC. I told a friend about it and he didn't believe me. Then I read a quote from the book. Still nothing. I believe it though. The argument is whether or not they broke up the protest before other bands could play (i.e. my friends perspective) or if they were the only band that showed up due to the nature of the radical environment (mainly news that the protests were turning violent) (My perspective).
-Wendy's-Blockbuster-Wendy's vs. Vino's-Gas Station- This one started when I drove to Wendy's to get some food with a couple of friends. I first went to Wendy’s, they got food, and I didn't, then went to blockbuster to get a movie, then went back to Wendy’s to get my food. Thus new nickname: Wendy's-Blockbuster-Wendy's. My reasoning: I wanted hot food and since I planned on eating at home I did not want to drive to blockbuster before picking my food up, and since we were on our way to Wendy’s I chose to make the second trip, assuming my friends would eat in the car. Any who, the argument comes when comparing Wendy’s-Blockbuster-Wendy’s to a recent trip to Vino's. I was ready to go and it seemed like my friends weren't, so I decided to leave to go to the gas station to pick up some smokes in hopes to kill time until they were ready. When I get back they are in the parking lot freaking out cause I left (thinking I left them) and trying to connect the two separate incidents proceed to call me Vino’s-gas station-Vinos. My point is they aren't related and that if you were to relate them you would have to say gas station-Vino’s instead of Vino’s-gas station-Vino’s. Reasoning: The starting point in the previous nickname begins with the first destination of importance to the confusing series of events i.e. Wendy’s, and since we were already at Vino’s and I was waiting on my friends to leave Vino’s cannot be considered a destination but rather a starting point, and since starting points are irrelevant in the nickname, then the proper nickname for comparison would be gas station-Vino’s.
The following are a list of other arguments that I have engaged in and my stance:
-Whether or not it sucks for music that Michael Jackson is a child molester: No.
-Whether Nashville Pussy won a Grammy: No
-Whether or not Walk The Line was a good movie: Yes
-Whether or not it is worth waiting in line to get a dollar back if you are overcharged at the checkout line: Yes.
-Whether or not Imagine by John Lennon is a good song: No (coming around though)
-Whether or not Streets of Philadelphia by Bruce Springsteen is a good song. No.
That’s it for now look for Vol. 2 of The Wonderful World of Arguments coming soon.

"thoreau" was a great catch, but c'mon man, you spelled "argument" wrong throughout an entire fucking post that was solely about arguing
oh, and it's spelled "philadelphia"
zing!
I'm not saying what the argument was, but I am saying what it should have been: It shouldn't have been whether 1 out of 5 big publishers have a fact checker that checks any of their thousands of books a year. It should have been entirely about how many of those books aren't under scrutiny, 'cause who cares if they have the position and it isn't effectively used? The end result is the same and one might as well say "they don't have fact checkers" if 98% of their publications aren't corrected. But I do see your side of the argument's stickler merit.
Also: Walk the Line might not have been a bad movie, it could certainly have been an okay movie, but there's no way it was a good movie.
good one mike lets point out the flaws on my blog that was merely a sample repeat post to see how it worked. but you are the factchecker. right. i am the one who doesn't care. right. but i guess you got me.
